About Us
The team at Milne Pension & Investment Management specialises in providing bespoke financial advice that enables our clients to maximise their financial position in line with their circumstances and objectives.
Building a better future.
Our Expertise
Our highly skilled advisers are qualified to chartered level*, meaning that the advice our clients receive is of ‘gold standard’ level, drawing on the broadest and most in-depth knowledge possible.
We also make sure that our clients are fully supported, using a team approach to all interactions, using our dedicated administration team as well as drawing on the additional specialist support provided by our parent company, Futura Wealth Management Ltd.

*Advisers are either chartered or studying towards the chartered level. Those studying towards the chartered standard are fully supervised by an experienced fully chartered adviser.
Our Philosophy
We don’t believe in “one size fits all”. We believe in a holistic, multi-generational approach to our advice, and tailor our recommendations to your individual needs.
We always consider the broadest possible range of solutions, accessing the full range of the financial industry product provider’s and trading platforms to give our clients a wide range of potential solutions – all of which are tailored to their specific individual needs and investment risk profile.
We always present our recommendations without using the often-confusing jargon associated with the finance industry – meaning our clients are crystal clear about the advice they are using.
Our Approach
Our approach is to provide a complete advice service, helping our clients to make the best use of the financial resources available to them through the key stages of their life. This might start with buying your first home or setting up your first pension, right the way through to assisting you as you approach and move through your retirement, encompassing both inheritance tax & succession planning.
We also believe in supporting new generations within a family as they mature and require guidance as they reach new milestones, and now have many examples where we are supporting several generations within a single family.
Our Experience
Our team has a collective experience in the financial services industry of more than 75 years, gained across a wide range of roles and companies. This allows us to confidently advise on solutions which meet the very differing needs of our clients, drawing upon the personal knowledge and insight gained along the way.
In the unlikely event that we don’t have the experience of a particular solution we are able to draw on the depth offered by our colleagues and associates at our parent company, Futura Wealth Management Ltd.

Alan Milne | Chartered Financial Planner
Alan began his career in Financial Services in various capacities with Scottish Widows between 1984 and 1998 before being head-hunted by a leading West of Scotland Independent Financial Advisory Firm which firmly established him as an Independent Financial Adviser – a role which he has carried out for a wide range of clients since then whilst running/co-running his own successful firms.
Alan was one of the first Chartered Financial Planners in Scotland and the quality of his advice and attention to his client’s needs is demonstrated by the multi-generations within his client base. He is keen to maintain the spirit of “family” advice by having his nephew and wife as members of his servicing team.
On a personal level, Alan enjoys travelling with his wife and extended family, particularly on city breaks, watching Formula 1 as well as his two favourite football teams.

Ross Milne | Financial Planner
In 2017, Ross began working in Financial Services after graduating from university with honours, and went on to attain the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. Ross’s role as an Independent Financial Adviser means he is dealing with the full range of Financial Services to support a broad range of clients in creating bespoke financial plans to achieve their financial goals. Ross is currently well on his way towards achieving Chartered status.
Outside of work, Ross enjoys spending time with friends & family and following his favourite football team.

Anne Milne | Senior Administrator
Anne started her career with Scottish Widows in 1985 and then moved into working for a firm of Financial Advisers in Glasgow. She then joined Alan in his business in 2004 and has worked with him since then. She deals with all client administration and back-office systems and provide ongoing support to both Alan and Ross.
In her free time Anne loves to travel and spend time entertaining with family and friends. She also enjoys the lovely walks around the Scottish coastal town where she and Alan live.

Estate Planning
Estate planning can be a complex process, particularly now that more and more estate values exceed the Inheritance tax threshold value. This means that the property, cash, investments, and possessions within an estate who has died are liable to being taxed at 40% of their value once above the threshold.
Ongoing Estate Planning advice will help to ensure that family and loved ones benefit from wealth preservation and tax efficiency.
Our advisers bring together the advice required across the broad range of legal, taxation and financial advice areas, including:

-
Writing and updating/validating your will
-
Maximising tax allowances and exemptions
-
Arranging trusts and advising of the use of gifting
-
Tax efficient investments
-
Assessing suitable insurance
-
Funeral planning
Investments
Our specialist team creates bespoke investment portfolios which are tailored to meet the specific individual needs of our clients.

Our approach is to invest significant time up front to fully understanding each client’s circumstances so that the investments solutions that we recommend are appropriate and sustainable.

Once implemented, we regularly review the investment performance with our clients to ensure the best possible outcomes and understand any changes to circumstances or objectives – so that adjustments can be made at the right time.
Pensions
Implementing a strong retirement plan at the right time of your life makes a significant difference to your financial security in later life.
Our advice helps our clients to understand more about what they want from their lifestyle before they reach retirement age, addressing key questions such as:
-
When do you want to retire?
-
Will you fully retire, or work less?
-
Do you need a lump sum from your pension, and if so, when?
-
Do you want a fixed income for the rest of your life, or do you need a more flexible income?
Once retired, we then regularly work with you to review your plans so that they continue to meet your circumstances.
Mortgages
We work with Futura’s centralised mortgage department to help individuals to find the right mortgage product for their financial needs and goals. We have access to the entire range of lenders, allowing unbiased advice and guidance. This helps remove the headache of navigating the often-complex mortgage application process for our clients, particularly where the requirements are more involved – as can be the case with buy-to-let, self-employed or adverse credit cases. Whether you are a first-time homebuyer or looking to refinance your existing mortgage, we are here to help.
Protection
Protecting your assets, your/your spouse’s life, and your livelihood is key to setting a solid financial foundation to build from. We offer advice on the full spectrum of protection products, including:

-
Term Assurance – cover to provide a lump sum for a defined period in the event of death.

-
Mortgage Protection – term protection specifically designed to cover the value of a capital repayment mortgage as it reduces over the mortgage term.

-
Whole of Life – a policy which runs for life, with no fixed term or end date – and so guarantees a pay-out. These can be useful in certain situations to provide for a known inheritance tax liability.

-
Critical Illness Protection – providing lump sum cover in the event the policy holder suffers a life changing illness.

-
Income Protection – policies which replace employment income in the event the policy holder is unable to work due to injury or illness.

-
Business Protection, including key-man and shareholder protection policies. These types of policies can protect a business and its shareholders against the loss or incapacitation of key employees/shareholders.

-
Private Medical Insurance – enabling access to private medical treatment in the event of injury or illness.
